The Natural History Unit is a jewel in the BBC's crown. It has always been a centre of innovation, creating new filming techniques such as extraordinary time-lapses in The Private life of Plants. It also has a great history of children's programmes starting with Animal Magic and now led by The Really Wild Show.

BBC Bristol's award-winning features production teams specialise mainly in factual programmes, output includes 999, Zoo-Keepers and Vets in Practice.

Last year's Christmas hit, Robbie the Reindeer, was produced by our Animation Unit, who also co-produced the Oscar-winning adventures of Wallace and Gromit with Aardman Animations.

BBC Bristol Online site was launched in April 2000. It provides news, sport, weather and travel information, a guide to what is happening locally in the theatres, clubs and movies, and regular competitions.
