An old woman prepares to visit her grandchildren, taking plenty of gold coins for the long journey. On her way she meets a greedy merchant who refuses to give her a lift on his horse without payment. Exhausted, she falls asleep but is woken much later on by an enormous bear, who initiates a curious change of fortune…
